The Strategic Principles of Laozi

Composed by Wang Zhen of the Tang Dynasty, this work was presented to the imperial court in the 4th year of the Yuanhe reign period of Emperor Xianzong (809).

Consisting of four volumes, it is included in the Yujue (Jade Commentary) category of the Dongshen Section of the Daozang (Daoist Canon).
This work extracts the chapter titles of the Laozi and elaborates on the essential ideas related to warfare expounded therein. It interprets the Laozi specifically from a military perspective, thus constituting a distinctive school of thought.
