The Wonderful Scripture of the Preparatory Practice Ritual Text, in Which the Heavenly Venerable Speaks of Retributions for Sins and Blessings According to One’s Aspirations and Rebirth as Wished has an unknown author.
It is believed to have originated in the Northern and Southern Dynasties or the early Sui and Tang dynasties.

It was not included in the Zhengtong Daoist Canon (Orthodox Daoist Canon), but was recorded in the Catalogue of Lost Daoist Scriptures.
Currently, there are three incomplete Dunhuang manuscripts of this scripture, namely P2868, Manuscript 539 collected by Ryukoku University, and P2433.
Combined, these three manuscripts contain more than 250 lines of the scripture, which can roughly restore the original appearance of the text.
Attributed to the Heavenly Venerable delivering teachings to divine beings such as the Supreme Dao Lord and the Universal Salvation True Person, this scripture mainly expounds on how to accumulate merits through acts like copying scriptures and crafting statues, in order to redeem sins from past lives and pre-cultivate karmic blessings for future rebirths.
