The Sun Taidai 孙太岱

The Sun Taidai 孙太岱

Paul Peng
Sun Taidai was a native of Anhui Province in the early Qing Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Qinghua, and his Taoist title was Biyangzi.

As recorded in Jingai Xindeng (The Golden Canopy Lamp of the Heart): "Sun Taidai was handsome; when he was still a layman (before embracing Taoism), people competed to betroth their daughters to him.
To avoid this, Sun Taidai left home and went to Huguan. There, he studied under Master Huang Xutang of Taiwei Lüyuan (Taiwei Precept Courtyard), who conferred the Chuzhen Precepts (Initial Perfection Precepts) upon him.

Before long, he was further granted the Zhongji Precepts (Middle Ultimate Precepts) and Tianxian Precepts (Celestial Immortal Precepts), and he took up residence in Xiaotaoyuan (Little Peach Blossom Spring).

Later, he passed away without any prior illness."
