The Sun Tao 孙韬

Sun Tao was a native of Shan County during the Southern Qi and Liang dynasties (now part of Zhejiang Province).
According to Shaoxing Fu Zhi (Records of Shaoxing Prefecture), he studied under Pan Siming, from whom he received the Taoist doctrines and practices of the Shangqing (Highest Clarity) tradition. Sun Tao was a second-generation disciple of Tao Hongjing (a preeminent Taoist scholar and practitioner of the Southern Dynasties).

He obtained Wo Zhong Mijue (The Secret Essentials in the Palm), dedicated himself to cultivating the Dao with strict adherence to ascetic principles, and eventually attained enlightenment in the Dao.
