The Supreme Threefold Integral Salvation Scripture 太上三元赐福赦罪解厄消灾延生保命妙经

Author unknown, seemingly compiled during the Ming Dynasty.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Supplementary Daoist Canon.

This scripture expounds the methods of reciting scriptures and incantations to pray to the Three Officials for blessings and disaster relief. Before reciting the scripture, one must first observe fasts and purifications, tidy one’s attire, concentrate one’s sincere mind, regulate one’s breath and tap one’s teeth. Then recite the divine incantations such as the Purification of the Mind, Purification of the Mouth and Purification of the Body. After that, open the scripture and recite its text, praying to the Upper Principal Heavenly Official, the Middle Principal Earthly Official and the Lower Principal Water Official, imploring for “the Heavenly Official to bestow blessings, the Earthly Official to pardon sins, and the Water Official to resolve calamities”. The scripture concludes with the declaration: “This scripture contains a total of one thousand six hundred and seventy-five characters; every character holds true meaning, every sentence atones for transgressions, every line eradicates sins, and every scroll confers blessings.”
