The author is unknown. Consisting of three volumes, it is included in the Yujue (Jade Commentary) category of the Dongshen Section of the Daozang (Daoist Canon). The original third volume is lost; later generations supplemented it with the text and annotations of Chapters 18 to 80 from Shiyong’s Daode Zhenjing Quanjie (Complete Commentary on the Classic of the Dao and Virtue).
The Syncretic Commentary on Dao De Jing
Its commentary integrates Confucianism and Buddhism, expounding the way of self-cultivation and state governance through emptiness, tranquility and non-action, and also involves internal cultivation techniques. It seems to be a work by Taoist practitioners during the Jin and Yuan dynasties.
