The Secret Instructions of the Jade Scripture with Hidden Annotations of the Supreme Ultimate

Also known as The Cave Mysterious Scripture with Hidden Annotations of the Supreme Ultimate or The Scripture of Secret Instructions with Hidden Annotations of the Supreme Ultimate, it is one of the ancient Numinous Treasure Scriptures of Taoism, probably compiled in the late Eastern Jin Dynasty and early Southern Dynasties.
It was already recorded in Lu Xiujing’s Catalogue of Numinous Treasure Scriptures.

Originally a single scroll, it is included in the Jade Instructions category of the Cave Mysterious Section of the Daoist Canon.

This book describes the rituals of transmitting, opening, and reciting Taoist scriptures in Taoism.

The scriptures to be transmitted include Daodejing (Tao Te Ching), The True Scripture of the Great Cavern of the Supreme Clarity, The Supreme Cave Mysterious Numinous Treasure Scripture, The Precious Scripts of the Three Sovereigns of the Supreme Oneness, Huangtingjing (Yellow Court Classic), Scripture of Taoist Traces, and so on. Its scripture-transmitting ritual is quite grand, including rituals such as tapping the teeth, swallowing saliva, contemplating deities, the master reciting incantations, and the disciples bowing three times to receive the scriptures.

The method of reciting scriptures also begins with tapping the teeth, swallowing saliva, and contemplating deities, followed by reciting the scriptures in the pronunciation of Central Xia (ancient Chinese). It is claimed that if one recites the Five Thousand Character Classic (i.e., Daodejing) ten thousand times, the Supreme Oneness’s cloud dragons will descend to welcome them, and they "will ascend to immortality immediately
