The Tai Shang Dong Xuan Ling Bao Su Ling Zhen Fu 太上洞玄灵宝素灵真符

Compiled by Du Guangting of the Tang Dynasty.

It consists of three scrolls and is included in the category of "Divine Talismans" in the Cave Mysterium Division of the Taoist Canon.

At the beginning of the text is a preface by Du Guangting, which states that during the Qianyuan era of the Tang Dynasty (758–760), the Heavenly Master Zhai Qianyou dreamed of the Heavenly Venerable and obtained a scroll of cinnabar-written text, namely The Pure Spirit Talismans.

Later, in the bingyin year of the Tianfu (You) reign period (906), Du Guangting "requested scriptures at Mount Pingdu and recovered this text again, compiling it into the Three Caverns Canon".

The entire book contains hundreds of various talismans and incantations.

According to the text, writing talismans and reciting incantations in accordance with the proper rituals enables one to "cure illnesses and diseases, subdue demons and control spirits, drive and command ghosts and gods, retrieve corpses and raise the dead, summon wind and rain, and whip tigers and wolves".

The talismans across the three scrolls are arranged by the illnesses they treat.

First are talismans for curing all diseases, followed in sequence by talismans for treating plagues, typhoid fever, alternating chills and fever, headaches, abdominal pain, heart pain, lower back pain, back pain, chest pain, dysentery, cholera, constipation, gonorrhea, malaria, and other ailments. In addition, there are talismans for treating mental and psychological disorders, such as those for relieving melancholy, calming the soul, dispelling delusions, alleviating grief, enhancing memory, and so on.
