The Tai Shang Dong Xuan Ling Bao Zhen Wen Yao Jie Shang Jing 太上洞玄灵宝真文要解上经

The Supreme Cave Mysterious Numinous Treasure Scripture of Essential Explanations on the True Scripts (Upper Scroll)

It is one of the ancient Numinous Treasure Scriptures of Taoism, probably compiled in the late Eastern Jin Dynasty and early Southern Dynasties.

It was already recorded in Lu Xiujing’s Catalogue of Numinous Treasure Scriptures.
Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Benwen (Original Text) category of the Dongxuan (Cave Mysterious) Section of the Daoist Canon.

The scripture is pseudonymously attributed to the Supreme Dao Lord, and it mainly explains the methods of practicing the Five Chapters of Numinous Treasure True Scripts, hence the name "Essential Explanations on the True Scripts".

It claims that the Five Chapters of Numinous Treasure True Scripts are celestial and spiritual texts that appear only once every forty thousand kalpas and possess twelve virtues.

If the texts exist in the world, they will bring peace to the nation and families; those who master their methods can soar into the sky and float in the void. It also states that those who cultivate the Dao and form karmic affinities should practice the "Twelve Great Vows", bestow kindness and plant blessings, form karmic causes for others, diligently cultivate themselves, and attain immortality both in life and after death.

It further expounds the "Numinous Treasure Natural Five-Chapter Guardian Spirit Incantation", urging people to recite this incantation to subdue demons, eliminate disasters, and "ultimately become true immortals".

Additionally, it presents ten chapters of repentance and prayer texts for the ten directions, encouraging people to burn incense and pray to the Supreme Numinous Treasure Celestial Worthy of the Ten Infinite Directions, so as to be freed from the evil karmic affinities and sins of past and present lives.

At the end of the text, several songs are recorded, which are said to summon the protection of true immortals and spiritual consorts when recited.
