The Tai Shang Dong Xuan Ling Bao Zhuan Shen Du Ming Jing 太上洞玄灵宝转神度命经

The author of this scripture is unknown. Judging from its content and wording, it was probably composed during the Sui and Tang dynasties.

It is one scroll and is included in the "Original Text Category" of the Cavern Mysterious Section in the Taoist Canon.

The main purpose of this scripture is to propagate the idea that "when a person dies, they transform into another form, each according to their previous karma", emphasizing that karmic destiny and retribution are unerring. It exhorts people that when someone is on their deathbed, at the time of funeral arrangements, or shortly after passing away, they should invite Taoist priests to perform rituals and recite scriptures, repent and receive precepts, and surrender their lives to the Supreme Merciful Venerables of the ten directions who save beings from suffering. By doing so, the deceased can eliminate past sins, be reborn in the pure land, transform their spirit into a wonderful state, and attain the Dao to become immortals.
