Originally compiled by Du Guangting.

This book collects twenty-three model texts ofShangzhang(presenting memorials to heaven) from the Celestial Master Dao during the Han, Wei, and Six Dynasties periods. It states that when a Daoist master presents memorials to the Heavenly Ministry on behalf of disciples, begging the Supreme Venerable Sovereign and all the true immortals, officials, generals, and soldiers for blessings, it can obtain good fortune, avert disasters, cure illnesses, and transcend the souls of the deceased.
The format and terminology of these memorial texts are roughly the same as those in theChi Songzi Zhang Li (Annals of the Memorials of Master Red Pine).
