Taishang Dongxuan Lingbao Zhonghe Jing (The Scripture of Harmony of the Numinous Treasure of the Cavernous Mystery of the Supreme Oneness), the author of which is unknown.

Its content is similar to the Zhonghe Pin (Chapter on Harmony) in Volume 7 of the Shengxuan Neijiao Jing (Scripture of the Inner Teaching of Elevating the Mystery), but its wording is more archaic and concise, and it was presumably compiled by Taoist priests during the Southern and Northern Dynasties.
It consists of one scroll and is included in the Taiping Section of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

The main purpose of the scripture is to exhort people to uphold the Dao and observe precepts, practice good deeds and eliminate evil. It states that the Dao takes harmony as its virtue, and people should restrain their emotions with precepts, align their conduct with the Dao, guard their hearts, mouths, ears, eyes, and minds, and observe the Five Dao Precepts.

The Five Precepts are as follows:

  1. Not to indulge in unbridled lust;
  2. Not to give free rein to joy and anger, or engage in insults and curses;
  3. Not to harbor malice or be jealous of others;
  4. Not to defile one’s body and remain impure, or become disoriented from drinking alcohol;
  5. Not to covet wealth and goods.

Furthermore, one should uphold loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness, and show compassion for the poor and relief for the endangered. In this way, one will naturally unite with the Great Dao, attaining immortality in the highest tier, double lifespan in the middle tier, and prolonged life without accidental death in the lowest tier.
