Taoist Epigraphs and Inscriptions: A Collection of Taoist Stone Carving Materials

Among the stone inscriptions of successive dynasties, many are related to Taoism and serve as precious materials for the study of Taoist history.

In the 1930s, the renowned scholar Mr. Chen Yuan collected and sorted out Taoist stone inscriptions, compiling the manuscript of Taoist Epigraphs and Inscriptions.

In the early 1980s, Chen Zhichao, a descendant of Mr. Chen Yuan, made extensive supplements and collations to the manuscript, which was then officially submitted for publication.

The book collects more than 1,530 Taoist-related inscriptions from the Han, Wei, Six Dynasties to the Ming Dynasty, all arranged in chronological order with the source of each inscription indicated.

It is the most comprehensive large-scale collection of Taoist stone carving materials compiled to date.
