Three Caves
A classification method for Taoist books, referring to the Dongzhen (Grotto of Truth), Dongxuan (Grotto of Mystery), and Dongshen (Grotto of Spirits) sections.

During the Liu Song period of the Southern Dynasties, the Taoist Lu Xiujing (406-477) summarized the Three Caves and compiled Catalogue of Grotto Scriptures, dividing Taoist books into three categories: Dongzhen, Dongxuan, and Dongshen.
The Dongzhen Section is mainly based on the Shangqing Scriptures, known as the highest grade; the Dongxuan Section is mainly based on the Lingbao Scriptures, known as the middle grade; the Dongshen Section is mainly based on the Yihuang Scriptures, known as the lower grade.
This classification method initiated by Lu Xiujing categorized the numerous Taoist books and laid the foundation for the compilation of the Daozang (Taoist Canon) in subsequent generations.
