The Tian Duanyan 田端彦
Paul PengShare
Tian Duanyan was a figure of the Northern Song Dynasty. In his youth, he passed the imperial examination and obtained the title of Jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examination).

During the Chongyu era of Emperor Huizong (1106 AD), he served as Jianshu (an official position in charge of document management) in the Jinnan Jiedu Mansion. Within a few years, he resigned from his official post, became a Taoist hermit, and practiced Taoism at the Qingxi Jingshe (Qingxi Retreat) on Yu'an Mountain. When he was over eighty years old, he traveled around the areas of Luo (Luoyang) and Xiang (Xiangyang).
Details of his life story can be found in Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of the Authentic Immortals and Practitioners Through the Ages).
