The Tian Taishen 田太神
Paul PengShare
Tian Taishen (? - 763) was a native of Nanyang (now part of Henan Province) in the Tang Dynasty. He resided in Zhongjiang County of Tongchuan Prefecture and lived at Jixu Guan (Jixu Taoist Temple) on Qimiao Mountain.
Once, he encountered an extraordinary person known as Huang Gong, who bestowed upon him the "White Gold Elixir" (Baijin Dan). After obtaining this elixir, Tian Taishen gained the abilities to subdue tigers, control venomous snakes, and traverse mountains and rivers as if walking on flat ground. In the first year of the Guangde era (763), he passed away suddenly due to an illness. Many people built a Taoist temple to pray to him, and his blessings were often deemed effective.

According to the Edict of Zhenren Miaoji (Zhenren refers to a Taoist immortal), in the fourth year of the Jiatai era of the Song Dynasty (1204), he was officially conferred the title of "Miaoji Zhenren" (Immortal Miaoji) by imperial decree.
In the sixth year of the Guangzheng era of the Later Shu Kingdom during the Five Dynasties period (913), there was a stele titled Stele of the Hall of Zhenren Tian at Jixu Guan, which is now lost.
