The Tong Fukuí 童复魁

Tong Fukuí (1704–1801) was a native of Kuàijī, Zhèjiāng Province, during the Qiánlóng and Jiāqìng reigns of the Qing Dynasty, and his literary name was Yōng'ān.

In the 9th year of the Yōngzhèng reign (1731), at the age of 28, he entered the Taoist order at Luófú Mountain and resided at Sūláo Guān (Sūláo Taoist Temple). Through diligent practice, he attained profound insights in Taoism, after which he embarked on a journey to visit famous mountains across the country. He did not return until 20 years later, and fellow Taoists unanimously elected him as the abbot of the temple.

The provincial governor held him in high esteem and further recommended him to take up the post of Daohuì Sī (Director of Taoist Affairs Administration), an official position in charge of overseeing local Taoist activities.

Tong Fukuí was strict and upright in guiding his disciples. Both Taoists and Buddhists in the mountain area obeyed his instructions. His reputation as a Taoist master grew increasingly prominent, and his mastery of Taoist doctrines and practices was extraordinary.

Tong Fukuí passed away in the 9th lunar month of the 6th year of the Jiāqìng reign (1801) at the age of 98.
