The Wan Baochong 万保冲
Paul PengShare
Wan Baochong, a native of Wujin in Changzhou (now Wujin County, Jiangsu Province) during the Northern Song Dynasty, had the courtesy name Yongxuan.
He became a Taoist priest at Tengxian Guan (Tengxian Taoist Temple). Later, he went to Mao Mountain and studied under Jiang Yuanji.

In the first year of the Xianping era (998), he received the Scripture and Register of the Great Grotto of Shangqing (a core ritual document of the Shangqing School) and thus began to propagate the profound doctrines of the Shangqing tradition.
He was proficient in Taoist magical arts and especially skilled in the practice of absorbing and refining the "qi" (vital energy) of the sun and rosy clouds. He passed away at the age of ninety-two and was posthumously granted the imperial title "Mr. Chongsu" (Chongsu meaning "Pure and Unadulterated").
He was the 10th patriarch of the Shangqing School of Taoism on Mao Mountain.
