The Wang Dongzhang 王洞章

The Wang Dongzhang 王洞章

Paul Peng
Wang Dongzhang was a native of Guixi, Jiangxi, who lived from the late Northern Song Dynasty to the early Southern Song Dynasty.

He studied under Wang Jianyi (as his disciple).

From a young age, he was alert and intelligent, and extensively read Confucian classics and historical records.
He was skilled in writing poetry and prose, and proficient in playing the guqin (a seven-stringed traditional Chinese zither) and chess.

When he reached the age of twenty (the "year of weak crown" in ancient China, marking adulthood), he was initiated into Taoism and became a Taoist priest.

Later, he was officially appointed by imperial order as "Great Master Chonghe" (a prestigious Taoist title).

He passed away at the age of over sixty.

He had two disciples: Cai Yuanjiu and Ni Wenjian.
