The Wang Huaiyin 王怀隐
Paul PengShare
Wang Huaiyin was a native of Suiyang in Songzhou (present-day Shangqiu City, Henan Province) during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty. He was a Taoist priest at Jianlong Guan (Jianlong Taoist Temple) in the capital.

He was skilled in medicine and once cured Emperor Taizong's chronic illness with decoctions. In the early years of the Taiping Xingguo period (976-984), he was ordered by the imperial edict to return to secular life, appointed as Shangyao Fengyu (an official in charge of imperial medicine), and later promoted to Hanlin Yiguan Shi (a senior imperial medical official in the Hanlin Academy).
He was commissioned by the imperial order to compile Taiping Shenghui Fang (The Great Peace Holy Benevolence Formula), a work in 100 volumes. A few years after the book was completed, he passed away.
