Wang Jiachun was a native of Shuijia (now part of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province) during the Qing Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Jiuling, and his literary name was Hanxu.

He was registered as a Taoist at Yingdao Guan (Yingdao Temple). He devoted himself to the study of the doctrines of Laozi, Zhuangzi, and the I Ching (Book of Changes), practiced the internal alchemy (Neidan) methods of Taoism, traveled to famous mountains and great rivers, and visited numerous renowned Taoist masters and fellow practitioners. Later, he lived in seclusion in the Wudang Mountains. His works include Annotations on the Dao De Jing, Explanation of the Taiji Diagram, Essentials of the I Ching, as well as Annotations on the Can Tong Qi, Annotations on the Wu Zhen Pian, Annotations on the Yin Fu Jing, etc.
