The Wang Laizhen 王来真

Wang Laizhen (? - 1782) was a native of Gusu (present-day Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province) during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty.

His original name was Lai Kun; his courtesy name was Mengsheng, and his literary name was Yiyang.

He studied under Gu Cangzhou and was the adopted grandson of Fang Rongyang.

Preceptor Xu Qingyun, recognizing his sincerity, imparted to him the essential teachings of "Xukong Fensui" (the complete dissolution into emptiness, a core concept in Taoist cultivation). Later, Preceptor Gu performed the capping ceremony for him and helped him change his name (from Lai Kun to Laizhen).

He founded Yunshui Qi (a Taoist hermitage for itinerant practitioners) at Zhuangjiaqiao in Gusu and built Doumu Ge (Pavilion of Doumu, the Taoist goddess of the Big Dipper).
