The Wang Qihuan 汪启濩

Wang Qihuan was a native of Xiuning, Anhui during the Qing Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Dongting, and his literary name was Tizhen Shanren (Hermit of Authentic Substance).

He studied Confucianism in his childhood but had a strong passion for metaphysics and Taoist methods. He extensively read classics, histories, Taoist scriptures, alchemical texts, and methods of cultivation, yet failed to achieve success in practice as he had not obtained the secret teachings from a master of high attainments. In the following decade, he traveled around the country, successively studying under Wu Tianzhi, Ke Huaijing, Li Yunlan, Zhou Junfu, Ke Zaishu, among others. He received the alchemical formulas of "Seven Returns and Nine Circulations" and "Golden Elixir of Great Perfection," and suddenly comprehended the essential principles of cultivating both nature and destiny.

After years of practice, he compiled his insights into works such as Xinjiaofa outside the Teaching (Heart Method Beyond the Doctrine) and Xingming Yaozhi (Essential Principles of Nature and Destiny). Additionally, he edited and published Nüdanjue (Alchemical Formulas for Women), Nüzhen Shige (Poems of Female Immortals), and Daotong Dacheng (Comprehensive Compendium of the Taoist Tradition), which were circulated in the world.
