The Wang Qingxu 王清虚

Wang Qingxu was a native of Suzhou during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

His original given name was Daqi, his courtesy name was Dingran, and his literary name was Dongyangzi. He became a Taoist Priest and studied under Lü Quanyang at Guanshan Mountain.

As recorded in Jingai Xindeng (The Lamp of the Heart at Golden Canopy): In the 22nd year of the Kangxi reign (1683), he went to Jingai Mountain and studied under Tao Shian.

In the 28th year of the Kangxi reign (1689), he traveled to Jinzhuping. In the 30th year of the Kangxi reign (1691), he returned to Guanshan Mountain and settled there.

Wang Qingxu had an outstanding moral character, and his mastery of Taoist doctrines and practices was transcendent. In the 35th year of the Kangxi reign (1696), he again passed through Jingai Mountain from Guanshan Mountain, proceeded to Dadi Mountain, and resided at Jinzhuping. He converted to Taoism under Pan Muxin, who renamed him "Qingxu" and imparted to him the three major sets of Taoist precepts. Wang Qingxu fully inherited the essential teachings (from Pan Muxin). In his later years, he helped others and did good deeds; his prayers (for the people) were always answered promptly. Later, he passed away due to an illness, living to the age of 96.
