The Wang Qingzheng 王清正

The Wang Qingzheng 王清正

Paul Peng
Wang Qingzheng lived in the early Qing Dynasty, and his courtesy name was Laiyang.

He was a direct lineage disciple of Ma Zhenyi, a successor of the Longmen Sect’s doctrinal tradition. When Sun Zongwu was in Huayang, he had already been friends with Wang Qingzheng.

As recorded in Guangyang Zaji (Guangyang’s Miscellaneous Notes), Baiyun Guan (White Cloud Temple) in the capital was destroyed in the late Ming Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, Wang Qingzheng came to reside there and restored the temple. The Taoist lineage of Baiyun Guan, which follows the Longmen Sect, is believed to have originated with Wang Qingzheng.
