The Wang Shaotong 王绍通

Wang Shaotong was a native of Jinxi during the Tianshun reign of the Ming Dynasty. His courtesy name was Yongzhi. He became a Taoist monk at Fengqi Courtyard on Longhu Mountain, and his Taoist arts were known for being efficacious.

During the Tianshun reign (1457–1464), he was summoned to the imperial court, where he was bestowed with a crown, a sword, and ritual robes—enjoying great favor from the emperor.

The 46th-generation "Zhenren" (a title for accomplished Taoist masters) invited Wang Shaotong to return to Longhu Mountain for discussions on Taoism. He treated Wang with the etiquette due to a teacher, appointed Wang as "Zan Jiao" (an official in charge of assisting in teaching Taoist doctrines), and concurrently entrusted Wang with the post of "Du Tiandian of Falu in the Zhenren Mansion" (a key position overseeing Taoist ritual registers and ceremonies in the Zhenren’s official residence).
