Wang Xuanfu (?–345)
A native of Pei County (now Suixi County, Anhui Province) during the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
According to Volume 34 of Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of Real Immortals and the Dao Through the Ages), in his youth, he studied Taoism at Huoshan Mountain in Chicheng. He received and practiced the methods of consuming "qingjing shi fan" (green essence stone rice, a mythical alchemical substance in Taoism) and absorbing the essences of the sun and moon.

He cultivated the "neisi dongfang shu" (Inner Contemplation of the Bridal Chamber Technique), a specialized Taoist meditation practice focused on internal visualization.
After thirty-four years of cultivation, he gained the ability to "see his internal five viscera" (a sign of advanced Taoist attainment) and could write even in pitch-dark nights.
Wang Xuanfu passed away in the first year of the Yonghe era of Emperor Mu of the Jin Dynasty (345). After his death, he ascended to the position of the deity of Zhongyue (the Central Sacred Mountain, i.e., Songshan Mountain) and was honored with the title "Zhongyue Zhenren" (True Person of the Central Mountain).
