The Wang Zhiyou 王志祐

Wang Zhiyou (1151-1239; alternatively recorded as 1211-1299) was a native of Linlü (now Lin County, Henan Province) during the Jin and Yuan dynasties. His Taoist title was "Qishenzi" (Master of Dwelling in the Divine), and he was commonly known as "Mr. Linzhou" by people of his time.

As recorded in Records of Yueyun Palace: In his youth, Wang Zhiyou studied Confucianism; when he grew older, he became fond of profound Taoist principles. In the 4th year of the Zhengda era (1227), he traveled from Pingshui to Wangwu Mountain, where he restored Yangtai Taoist Temple and then took up residence there.
In the 2nd year of the reign of Emperor Xianzong of the Yuan Dynasty (1252), the Great Master Zhenchang, the lineage successor of Quanzhen Taoism, approved the request (in accordance with established privileges) to rename the former hermitage "Yueyun Palace". Wang Zhiyou served as the abbot of the palace and passed away at the age of 88.
