The Xie You 谢佑
Paul PengShare
Xie You (?-1087) was a native of Shaxian (now part of Fujian Province) during the reign of Emperor Shenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty.
He studied under Huang Tang and in the fifth year of the Yuanfeng era (1082), received a golden talisman and jade scroll from a revered immortal. Later, he also studied under the immortal Sa, which further refined his Taoist practices.

He passed away in the second year of the Yuanyou era. In the ninth year of the Shaoxing era, Emperor Gaozong posthumously honored him with the title "Xianlie Zunwang," and in the sixteenth year of the Chunxi era (1189), Emperor Xiaozong bestowed the name "Zhengshun" on his temple.
In the tenth year of the Xianchun era (1274), Wen Tianxiang petitioned for an elevation of his status to "Riyue Yingguang Da Di" (Emperor of the Brightening Sun and Moon), and he was enshrined alongside the Lady Cihui, with regular worship ceremonies flourishing in Fujian.
