The Xing Rujia 邢汝嘉

Xing Rujia (?–1209), courtesy name Zijia, was a native of Lishui in Jiankang (now part of Jiangsu Province) during the Southern Song Dynasty.

As recorded in Volume 10 of Mao Shan Zhi (Records of Maoshan Mountain): "Xing Rujia could write essays at the age of seven and often enjoyed discussing profound philosophical principles. He had an unusual physical feature—his hands reached below his knees. Emperor Xiaozong summoned him to the imperial court and appointed him as a Yushi Gaoshi (Eminent Scholar at the Imperial Court) and Zuojie Daolu (Chief Taoist Administrator of the Left Street)."

In October of the first year of the Qingyuan era (1195), Xing Rujia received a letter from Patriarch Qin Ruda, urging him to return to Maoshan Mountain promptly. He then took over the Yin (Taoist Seal) and Jian (Magic Sword)—the symbols of patriarchal succession—and succeeded as the new patriarch of the Maoshan Shangqing Sect. In March of the second year of the Jiading era (1209), he passed away without suffering from any illness. He was posthumously given the title "Mr. Zhengying" (Master of True Response) and was the 33rd Patriarch of the Maoshan Shangqing Sect.
