The Xu Chushang 徐处尚
Paul PengShare
Xu Chushang was a native of Guixi (now part of Jiangxi Province), who lived from the late Northern Song Dynasty to the early Southern Song Dynasty.
He was proficient in shushu (traditional Chinese metaphysical arts, including divination, astronomy, and numerology). He once traveled between Minshan Mountain and Emei Mountain, and predicted people’s good or bad fortunes based on the characters in classic texts—his predictions proved quite accurate.

During the Shaoxing period (1131–1162), he was appointed to the position of Zhigongshi (administrator of Taoist temple affairs) of his native mountain (referring to Longhu Mountain, a sacred Taoist site closely associated with Guixi), and resided at Yinghua Taoist Temple.
Detailed accounts of his life and deeds can be found in Records of Mount Longhu.
