The Xu Daoguang 徐道广

Paul Peng
Xu Daoguang was a native of Kunming, Yunnan during the Ming Dynasty.

He became a Taoist monk at an early age and studied under Jiang Rihe. Jiang taught him all the secret methods of the "Five Thunders" (a core Taoist ritual system), which allowed Xu to master Taoist arts. He was particularly skilled in praying for rain or clear weather.

During the Jiajing reign period of Emperor Shizong of the Ming Dynasty, Xu Daoguang was conferred the title of "Leiting Dusi" (a high-ranking official position in the imperial Taoist administration, responsible for rituals related to thunder and lightning).
