Yang Zhidao (? - 1232) was a native of Lingquan, Macheng County, Luanzhou (now part of Hebei Province) during the Jin Dynasty, and was bestowed the title "Great Master Tongxuan" (Great Master of Penetrating Mystery).

As recorded in The Stele of Kaiyang Guan (Kaiyang Temple): In the first year of the Mingchang era (1190), he became a Taoist monk. He built a simple earthen house to live in Wuqing, and later secluded himself in the cave of Lingyan Mountain in Huizhou for more than ten years.

In the seventh year of the Taihe era (1207), he founded Taiqing Guan (Taiqing Temple) in Huizhou. In the first year of the Zhenyou era (1213), he wandered and traveled in the Xingping area. Later, at the invitation of the provincial governors of Jingzhou and Runzhou, he built a Taoist temple in Jingzhou and propagated Taoist teachings in that region.

Qiu Changchun (Qiu Chuji) praised his Taoist attainments and conferred the temple plaque name "Kaiyang Guan" (Kaiyang Temple) on the temple he built.

Yang Zhidao passed away due to illness in the first year of the Kaixing era (1232).
