The Ye Kecheng 叶克承

Ye Kecheng was a native of Muzhou (now part of Zhejiang Province) during the Yuan Dynasty.

As recorded in Account of Yunjin Daoist Temple, his family had been engaged in Confucian scholarship for generations, and he had a profound mastery of the Book of Songs, Book of Documents, and the teachings of Laozi and Zhuangzi. When he grew up, he became a Daoist priest (Huangguan Shi, a term specifically referring to Daoist clergy in ancient China).

In the middle of the Dade period (of the Yuan Dynasty), he resided in the capital alongside Zhang Liusun, the "Kaifu Dazongshi" (Grand Master of the State, a high-ranking honorary title conferred by the imperial court for outstanding Daoist masters). By imperial edict (Xishu, literally "imperial letter sealed with the imperial jade seal," signifying official imperial authorization), he was appointed as "Quande Chunsu Tongxuan Dharma Master" and "Jiaomen Gaoshi" (Senior Virtuous Scholar of the Daoist Community).

Later, he was further appointed as "Tiju Zhigong" (Administrator-in-Chief) of Ruiying Palace in Shaoxing Circuit, concurrently taking charge of affairs at all Daoist temples within the circuit.

Subsequently, he was ordered by the emperor to serve as "Tidian" (Supervisor) of affairs at Yunjin Daoist Temple in Shangrao.
