The Yellow Register Decalogic Invocation 黄箓十念仪

Judging from its content and literary style, it was roughly composed in the Song Dynasty, and is included in the Ritual Norms Section of the Cavern Mystery Division of The Daozang.

This text records the Taoist ritual of contemplating and reciting the Ten Glorious Treasure Titles to transcend deceased spirits, a sacred observance that upholds the ultimate doctrine of The Dao and the primordial cosmic order of Taiji. The ritual proceedings include entreating the deceased spirits to take refuge in the Three Treasures of Taoism: the Dao, the Scriptures and the Teachers; paying homage and reciting prayers to the Heavenly Worthies and divine spirits in the celestial void of the Ten Directions in sequence, and beseeching for the salvation of all spirits to ascend and be reborn into the immortal realm.

Subsequently, it holds a repentance ceremony for the deceased spirits to atone for the three karmic offenses of their past lives—those of the body, speech and mind, aiming to eradicate the root of sins, redeem their souls from the netherworld, elevate their spirits to the azure firmament, and ascend in strides to the Yellow Court.
