Yu Daochun was a figure during the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty. He was conferred by imperial edict the title "Tixuan Shoudao Anwu Yangsu Chongxu Zhanmo Yianfa Yihua Puji Zhenren" (a honorific Taoist title recognizing his virtues of upholding the Dao, cultivating tranquility, demonstrating the Dharma, promoting enlightenment, and providing universal salvation).

He took charge of Taoist affairs.

He also held the status of "Wuxuan Gaoshi" (a noble title for accomplished Taoists with profound insight into the Dao) and concurrently served as "Zhengyi of Daolu Si" (an official in the state agency overseeing Taoist affairs) and abbot of Hong’en Lingji Palace.
