The Yu Zhidao 于志道
Paul PengShare
Yu Zhidao, originally named Shanqing, had the literary name Dongzhenzi.
In his early years, he studied under Ma Danyang and Qiu Chuji, and traveled through the Qinlong region (a historical area covering parts of present-day Shaanxi and Gansu provinces). Later, he changed his name to Zhidao.

Yu Zhidao was skilled in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and also well-versed in Confucianism. Many renowned scholars in Bianjing (the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, now Kaifeng, Henan Province) admired his benevolence and virtue, and thus associated with him and accompanied him on his travels.
Details of his life can be found in the entry "Yu Shanqing" or in The Stele of Daoist Master Yu Dongzhen on His Conduct and Practice.
