Paul PengShare
Xu Baoyuan lived in the early Yuan Dynasty.
Known by his literary name "Guangyangzi," he served as a Lianshi (a Taoist master specializing in inner alchemy and ritual practices) at Chongyang Yanshou Palace in Jingyang County, Jingzhao Prefecture.

As a Taoist adherent, he was noble and unconventional in conduct, attained a profound understanding of the Dao (the fundamental principle of Taoism), and achieved spiritual concentration while embodying virtuous qualities.
In the third year of the Zhida reign (1310), he was specially bestowed the honorific title of "Guangyang Chongde Fujiao Zhenren" (True Person of Guangyang, who Upholds Virtue and Assists in Teaching).
