The Upper Scroll of Yuanyang: Scripture on Transcending the Deceased and Relieving Calamities
The author of this scripture is unknown, and it is believed to have originated in the Tang Dynasty.

Preserved as Dunhuang Taoist manuscript S482, the text is incomplete at the beginning but intact at the end. It bears the title “Upper Scroll of Yuanyang: Scripture on Transcending the Deceased and Relieving Calamities, Section 1” and retains 106 lines of the scripture.
Attributed to the “Supreme Master Tai Xuan Yuanyang Immortal Lord” delivering the teachings, the text contains verses and the titles of divine immortals and true persons.
It claims that reciting these verses and titles can ward off disasters, eliminate evil afflictions, and turn peril into safety.
The Scripture of Saving and Protecting Life, Expounded by the Master of the Cave Mysterious Numinous Treasure, included in the Text Category of the Cave Mysterious Section of the Daoist Canon, has content similar to this text.
