The Zha Juguang 查居广

Zha Juguang (1284-1329) was a native of Linchuan during the Yuan Dynasty, which is now part of Jiangxi Province.

His courtesy name was Guangju, and his literary name (hao) was Jinxi Yuren (literally "the Feathered Man of Jinxi," a title reflecting his Taoist identity).

According to The Epitaph Tablet of Zha Guangju, in his youth, he entered Wangxian Taoist Temple in Jinxi to become a Taoist priest. Later, he went to Longhu Mountain in Shangrao, where he studied under Huangshi Weng of Lufu (Lufu refers to Mount Lushan, a famous mountain with deep Taoist associations).

Zha Juguang was fond of composing poetry. Huangshi Weng admired his talent, finding it similar to his own, so he taught Zha the essential principles (of Taoism and poetry). Zha Juguang studied Taoism diligently and was on friendly terms with renowned scholars of his time, including Wei Su, Liu Guan, Wang Xuanhan, and Jie Zizhou.

In the second year of the Tianli era (1329) of the Yuan Dynasty, Zha fell ill and stayed at Tiezhu Yanzhen Taoist Temple. His disciple Ge Shifan brought him back to Renshou Taoist Temple, and not long after, Zha passed away at the age of forty-six.
