The Zhang Fale 张法乐
Paul PengShare
Zhang Fale was a native of Nanyang during the Northern Wei Dynasty (now Nanyang City, Henan Province, China).
From childhood, he stayed by the side of Master Yin Qi of Louguan (a crucial early Taoist site near modern Xi'an, renowned as the "cradle of Taoism"). When he grew up, Master Yin Qi imparted to him the essential teachings of Taoism.

During the reign of the Emperor Fei of the Western Wei Dynasty (552–553 AD), Zhang Fale lived in seclusion in Geng Valley. He took delight in the Dao, forgetting worldly cares and distractions.
He raised thousands of rare birds; when he called them, all would fly to his palm to feed.
He passed away in the third year of the Emperor Fei’s reign (554 AD).
