The Zhang Jiao 张椒
Paul PengShare
Zhang Jiao was the 6th Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School (a major branch of Taoism).
His courtesy name was Dexin, and he was the eldest son of Zhang Zhaocheng.
According to The Genealogy of the Heavenly Masters of the Han Dynasty (Han Tianshi Shijia), he was fond of reading, devoted himself to studying Taoist doctrines, and mastered the methods of governing ghosts by using the secret talismans of various ranks bestowed by Taoist True Persons (perfected beings in Taoism). He passed down his teachings to later generations and guided people toward the Dao.

Emperor An of the Jin Dynasty (Liu Song, 405–418 CE) issued repeated imperial summonses to him, but he declined all of them.
In the 13th year of the Zhizheng era of Emperor Shun of the Yuan Dynasty (1353 CE), he was posthumously conferred the title "True Lord of Pure Subtlety, Promoting Teaching, and Profound Mystery" (Qingwei Hongjiao Xuanmiao Zhenjun).
