Zhang Jiaozhi lived during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty.

He received precepts at Changchun Guan (Eternal Spring Temple) in Beijing.

According to Changchun Guan Zhi (Records of Changchun Temple), he received precepts in the same period as Cui Jiaochun and later served as the abbot of Baiyun Guan (White Cloud Temple) in Beijing.

He usually concealed his talents and did not seek fame, with noble Taoist morality.
