The Zhang Jiong 张迥

Zhang Jiong was the 8th Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School (a major branch of Taoism).
His courtesy name was Yanchao, and he was the eldest son of Zhang Hui.
As recorded in The Genealogy of the Heavenly Masters of the Han Dynasty (Han Tianshi Shijia): "He studied Taoism from childhood, devoting himself to it with unflagging diligence. He enshrined the various ranks of ritual talismans bestowed by Taoist True Persons (perfected beings in Taoism) in a pure chamber, where the incense burned without interruption, and he maintained this practice tirelessly throughout his life."

He possessed Taoist mystical arts: he cured illnesses and expelled evil spirits for people. Regardless of whether those who came to him for prayers were noble or humble, he always did his utmost to perform ritual ceremonies for them, so he was revered and held in high esteem by the people of his time.
Taizu, Emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty (Emperor Daowu of Northern Wei), once summoned him to the imperial court; their conversations deeply satisfied the emperor.
He lived to the age of ninety. In the 13th year of the Zhizheng era of Emperor Shun of the Yuan Dynasty (1353 CE), he was posthumously conferred the title "True Lord of Jade Purity, Responsive Transformation, and Calm Tranquility" (Yuqing Yinghua Chongjing Zhenjun).
