The Zhang Mo 张模

Zhang Mo was a native of Dexing in Raozhou (now part of Jiangxi Province) during the Yuan Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Junfan, and his Taoist title was "Ziqiong Zhenren" (Real Person Purple Jade).

After reaching his youth, he became enlightened to the Dao (Tao), so he converted to Taoism and changed his name to Daoxin (meaning "the Mind of Dao").

At that time, Li Jue (also known as Tai Xu, a Taoist master) was residing at Xichun Palace in Anren. Ziqiong (Zhang Mo) sought to learn the "Golden Elixir" (a core practice in Taoist inner alchemy for immortality) from him, but Tai Xu initially refused to teach it. Later, Ziqiong went to the market and gave 30 copper coins to every beggar as charity. Tai Xu saw this act of benevolence and was pleased, so he imparted the entire profound doctrine of the Golden Elixir to Ziqiong.

The following year, they met again in Zhenzhou, and Ziqiong finally mastered the complete "Fire Phases" (a key technique in refining the Golden Elixir, referring to the control of energy timing).

Later, Zhang Mo passed on the doctrine of the Golden Elixir to Yuan Duzi (Zhao Youqin, a renowned Yuan Dynasty Taoist and scientist). His final whereabouts are unknown.
