Paul Peng

Zhang Peiyuan (?–1859) was the 60th Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi (Orthodox Unity) School of Taoism.

His courtesy name was Yucheng, and his literary name was Yangjia. People of his time called him "Immortal Master White Crane" (Baihe Xianshi).

As recorded in Bu Tianshi Shijia (Supplement to the Genealogy of the Heavenly Masters): In the 9th year of the Daoguang reign (1829), he inherited the position of Heavenly Master. His skills in Taoist talismanic arts were exquisite, and he was particularly renowned for the efficacy of his interpretation and performance of the Great Brahma Doumu Mysterious Rite (a Taoist ritual dedicated to Doumu, the Goddess of the Big Dipper).

Throughout his life, he was fond of doing good deeds and being charitable. In the 9th year of the Xianfeng reign (1859), he passed away without illness.

In the 30th year of the Guangxu reign (1904), he was posthumously conferred the title of "Guanglu Dafu" (Grand Master of Glorious Happiness) by imperial edict.
