The Zhang Pengtou 张蓬头

Zhang Pengtou was a native of Jiangxia (now Wuchang, Hubei Province) during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. His original surname was Qu, and his given name is unknown. As recorded in Jingai Xindeng (The Lamp of the Heart at Golden Canopy): He was inherently kind and gentle, skilled in tuna (Taoist breath cultivation), and had devoted years to Taoist study and practice.

He engaged in ascetic practices at Changchun Palace in Jiashan. In the 41st year of the Qianlong reign (1776), he went to JINGAI Mountain, where he took on the role of gathering firewood, and studied under a Taoist master of the Longmen (Dragon Gate) School.

In the 49th year of the Qianlong reign (1784), he arrived at Changchun Guan (Changchun Taoist Temple) in Hubei Province, and passed away shortly after. He belonged to the Xinzong (Heart Sect) branch of the Longmen School.
