The Zhang Ruona 张若讷
Paul PengShare
Zhang Ruona (653-739) was a figure of the Tang Dynasty.
His ancestors were natives of Nanyang Commandery (now part of Henan Province).
In his youth, he had a gentle and harmonious temperament, and his wisdom aligned with profound metaphysical principles.

In the first year of the Wenming era (684), he left secular life to become a Taoist priest, taking the religious name Ruona.
He dedicated himself to practicing the Dao with sincere devotion, and his reputation became prominent. Consequently, he was recommended to hold the position of "Dade" (a title of honor for senior and virtuous Taoist priests) at Zhaocheng Taoist Temple. He passed away in the 27th year of the Kaiyuan era (739).
He was 76 years old. (Source: Epitaph with Preface for the Virtuous Master Zhang, Dade of Zhaocheng Taoist Temple in the Tang Dynasty)
