The Zhang Shan
Paul PengShare
Zhang Shan was the 22nd Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School (Orthodox Unity School) of Taoism.
His courtesy name was Yuanzhang, and he was the eldest son of Zhang Bingyi.
He had a vegetarian diet from childhood; when he grew up, he was devoted to Taoism and traveled to famous mountains and great rivers.

He focused on quiet introspection and internal cultivation, and did not engage with trivial worldly matters.
He passed away at the age of 87. In the 13th year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1353), he was posthumously conferred the title "Qingxu Chongying Fuhui Zhenjun" (True Lord of Pure Emptiness, Lofty Response, and Trustworthy Benevolence).
