The Zhang Shixiu 张时修
Paul PengShare
Zhang Shixiu was the 31st Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School (of Taoism).
His courtesy name was Chaoying, and he was the son of Zhang Dunzhi — the grandson of Zhang Xiangzhong, the 27th Heavenly Master.

In his youth, he studied Confucian classics and repeatedly took the imperial examinations but failed to pass. Thus, he retreated to the mountains and forests, focusing on Taoist cultivation as his life’s goal.
When Zhang Jixian, the 30th Heavenly Master, passed away at a relatively young age, all members of the Taoist community unanimously recommended Zhang Shixiu to inherit the position and continue leading the school.
He lived to the age of sixty-one.
In the 13th year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty, he was posthumously awarded the title "Zhengyi Honghua Mingwu True Lord" (True Lord of Zhengyi, Vast Transformation, and Bright Enlightenment). (Source: Han Tianshi Shijia / The Genealogy of the Heavenly Masters of the Han Dynasty)
